Five Days….
That’s all that’s left, five days!
I’ve got so much left to do, I don’t know how it’s all going to get done!
Why are there only 24 hours in a day??!!
I know that I can and will get it all done, because I will not give in to believing that I won’t. That’s just not an option.
The majority of my brain seems to have shut down, or frozen, and sanity seems to have moved on to another plane of existence. Vapor Lock has set in!
Did I mention I have to WORK every day until Friday too?? And not short shifts like I usually work, but full days??!! And each day’s shift is an hour longer than the one before?!
What am I talking about? … What?... Oh, sorry! My wedding is this coming Saturday. Now you understand, yes?
This might be my second “formal” wedding, but it feels like it’s the first, since the first one was, oh, almost thirty years ago! And therefore, I’m starting to freak…
What I still have to do…
Finish sewing my dress…
Buy the film for the photographer..
Pick up the girls’ flowers…
Confirm table and chair delivery
Get last groomsman’s gift engraved
Write my individual “vows”
Work up the song/music list for the reception
Wrap our attendants’ gifts
Buy wrapping paper for the attendants’ gifts (yeah, that would be a good idea)
Sew the groomsmen’s arm bands
Make pennant flags for the cake
Make flower arrangements for the garden arch, the altar, and oh yeah, my bouquet!
Get the altar items together
Get the food for the Rehearsal lunch
Make sword sashes for the Groom and Best Man
Confirm the headcount with the Caterer
Dig the garden arch and electrical cords out of the shed
Decorate my shoes
Get the cake centerpiece to the cakemaker
Find my belly dance outfit and gear
Decorate the ceremony site on Friday
Rehearsal at Noon on Saturday
Rehearsal lunch on Saturday
Ceremony Saturday evening
Some of this might sound silly, but I’m one of those people who needs to have lists written out so that I don’t forget anything that I have to do. Sometimes even I think that I get too detailed with my lists, but believe me, if I didn’t do that, write down all the little details, I’d forget something that would end up being a big problem.
Yes, I’m making my dress/outfit. No, I don’t have it done yet. I also had to sew the Groom’s shirt, and then he decided that I should also sew the Best Man’s shirt so that they matched at least somewhat. I hadn’t planned on that, but it got done. I did their shirts first since they were smaller pieces, and that way I would have something done for that needed sense of accomplishment! The shirts came out great, and as soon as I get the pictures back from the ceremony, I will post them.
Now all I have to do is get mine done. Oh, I’ve had the fabric for three months! Started on the sewing two weeks ago!
I sat here Saturday morning while I was sewing the Best Man’s shirt, and got thinking about how I’ve always said in the past that I do my best work under pressure. I came to the realization that that is really a load of crap! I am a procrastinator, plain and simple. I just put things off until I don’t have any other choice than to get them done. There’s always something else that needs to get done first, right? Something that’s more important?
So I now have something new to work on in terms of my own personal development, my procrastination, and as soon as the wedding is over and done with, I am going to do that. Honest! It’s getting top priority!
Why wait til after the wedding, you ask? Well, I’ve got to finish sewing my dress!
Walking down the aisle butt nekked is not an option!
